Ms. Mitsotakis: The country needs a stable and strong government capable of making decisions quickly

“Big bet on elections is it clear: are we going forward or are we going back?”, says the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and emphasizes that “for the first time since 1993, prime ministers of two consecutive but very different terms will meet each other.”

In an interview with the Macedonia tis Kyriakis newspaper, the prime minister notes that he will not deny failures and mistakes, but they do not cancel the overall picture. “I will be the first to say that there is still a lot to be done. In the economy, in healthcare, in the state. And there we will throw our weight. But I return the critique of immigration to its source. Because we never said that the sea has no boundaries and that immigrants can come in, sunbathe and then … disappear. On the contrary,” he emphasizes.

In fact, he emphasizes that “increasing inflation is a global problem”, but also that “from the very beginning in Greece, the state raised dams”.

He talks about the achievements of his time in government, but at the same time emphasizes that “there are still sectors of the state that have been left behind.”

Emphasizing that the ND is heading into the elections with an atmosphere of positive speech, he emphasizes: “Right now we have a ballot box. This is the ballot box for May 21st. A strong New Democracy within it will determine who will rule on the next critical day. Which party do citizens trust and who do they want to see as prime minister? This is also the central dilemma. Who will take responsibility for managing the site? Who can manage crises. Who will take care of national development, but also social security. Who will represent Greece abroad? From the American Congress to Brussels and the great capitals of the world. This is a critical choice. I was and remain a firm believer that the country needs a stable and strong government capable of making decisions quickly and implementing them effectively.”

For a new four-year term, if the ND wins the election, it is a matter of “priorities 3+1”. First, better wages for everyone. With new government wages from 2024 and annual increases in the private sector based on national growth. The goal is to gradually bring wages in Greece to the European average by 2030. Secondly, decent health care. In modern hospitals, with even more staff and facilities. And primary health care with modern free preventive examinations of major diseases for all citizens. Thirdly, a modern, productive and functional state. With universal digitalization, constant assessment of employees and rewards when goals are achieved. And, finally, a horizontal youth policy. From education and employment to culture and everyday life. With particular poignancy, however, Stegi.

And in this interview, Kyriakos Mitsotakis repeats that “water is not privatized, period and dash.”

In response to a related question, he mentions in closing what Thessaloniki can expect from a new four-year ND term with the same Prime Minister.
