Androulakis’s “No” to a non-political person for the post of Prime Minister

‘He can’t be a political figure’ as prime minister, PASOK president said yesterday Nikos Androulakis, in an interview he gave to ERT, putting an end to the scenarios he promotes the man-out-of-politics solution. Yes, oh PASOK leader handed over the relevant scripts to Megaros Maximos with the aim, he said, of incriminating his proposal. “Therefore, I answer these scenarios in one way: politicians who will be able to express this ambitious programmatic plan,” he stressed, stressing that the choice of politicians will depend “on the strength of the parties.”

That’s why I’m asking for a strong PASOK who can show faces to ministries – because it’s not only the prime minister, but also critical ministries – that have a high level of competence, a high level of trust, are the bearers of transparency.”

Mr. Androulakis noted that it is the first elections that will point the way to the formation of a government. “The people will vote and I will personally take the necessary initiatives with a sense of responsibility in order to have stability and perspective only from the first Sunday. The first Sunday is a key date to achieve what I am talking about,” he stressed. However, as a condition for holding policy debates on these terms, he established that PASOK would receive a strong double-digit percentage. “The Greek people, if we do not have a strong double-digit percentage, would not give us the mandate that I am asking for to move to this stage. The people decide. People can’t tell you that they don’t want you in government and you’re trying to get in there with a tin,” he said. When asked if the program agreement also includes Mr. Janis Varoufakis, Mr. Androulakis replied that he would invite those who felt that what was included in the PASOK program was positive for the country, but added that “persons who played with the drachma, I don’t think they can be part of a long-term plan for the country.”

Regarding the announcement by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis that he had declined two invitations on his behalf to the meeting, he said that they had met twice: one at the foot of the parliament corridor and the other in the presidential palace, two days before, Androulakis testified to the Predator’s accusation. And he added about the request for a meeting that “there are institutional ways.”
