The Children’s Hospital of Thessaloniki will be ready in 2025, Health Minister Thanos Plevris said, assuring that, if necessary, the state will do its best to make this a reality.
After a meeting he had in the morning with the commanders and deputy commanders of the 3rd and 4th Ministries of Health, Mr. Pleurys, when asked about the developments regarding the Children’s Hospital in Thessaloniki, stated: “There are no problems with all three hospitals of the Foundation Niarchos and, in fact, “Niarchos” itself, yesterday in a letter sent to the chairman of the parliament and the leaders of the parties, it is said that every effort will be made. It was a process carried out by “Niarchos” itself, which turned out to be inconclusive. From now on, all procedures will be followed, and in any case, we assure that even as a state, if we need to somehow help, if we need a financial instrument, this assistance will be provided. For Pediatrics, not only is there no problem, but it will be fully on schedule to have a Children’s Hospital in Thessaloniki in 2025 with 33 additional beds for children and the problem of a lack of beds for children. children will be decided once and for all. what we have in Northern Greece.”
Recall that last week the Stavros Niarchos Foundation announced that the tender for the construction of Komotini Hospitals, Thessaloniki Children’s and Sparta Hospitals failed due to the large number of proposals.
When asked whether the Stavros Niarchos Foundation is focused on re-tendering or directly receiving an award for the construction of three hospitals (Pediatric, Komotini and Xanthi), he replied that this is the Foundation’s process. “We cannot specify the process, but we know that the Fund will take all necessary actions so that there are no problems, and all this time we have full confidence and excellent cooperation with the Fund. So there is nothing to worry about,” Mr. Plyuris added.
The pressure on hospitals is no longer great
Regarding the meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Plyuris said that the situation in the hospitals of Thessaloniki was discussed.
“We are in an environment where the pressure of the pandemic on the system is low. Accordingly, a balance is gradually beginning to be established in terms of viruses, and, accordingly, here we are considering the whole context and all cooperation in order to have the best possible treatment, ”he added.
As part of his visit to Thessaloniki, Mr. Pleuris will visit Evosmos Medical Center and AHEPA Hospital, and at noon he will attend the opening of a new department at the Trans-Balkan Medical Center.
