From its rostrum, an invitation was received to a dialogue on solving the problem of artists. parliament Deputy Minister of Culture Nicholas Giatromanolakisresponding to a topical question from SYRIZA MP Sia Anagnostopoulos on the topic “Immediate withdrawal P.D. 85/2022“.
N. Giatromanolakis: We invite everyone to dialogue
As N. Giatromanolakis said, the duties of the state are numerous and eternal, and the problems of artists are “deeply systemic”. He also noted that recent P.D. it didn’t cause a problem, but added salt to the wounds of decadesAnd, without intention, affected the moral level of the art industry, while causing their distrust of the state and government. However, he stressed that the ND government is ready to find solutions. “This is the first government to solve the problem, and the first to acknowledge its share of responsibility,” he said.
Referring to the inter-ministerial working groups set up by the government on the issue of university education in the performing arts, he said that he would propose to invite former ministers SYRIZA, but also unions and associations of artists. “Without them, there will be no solution for them,” he said characteristically. He also noted that on March 31 we will have a roadmap with a documented proposal to the ministries of culture and education.
He even stressed that the next government, “whoever it may be”, will not start from scratch: it will have the conclusion of the working groups and will continue this issue. “In the meantime, so that there is no concern, because a lot has been heard, I want to assure that graduates of theater schools, whether they are public or private, still have the right to apparently take qualifying exams in the third semester of universities,” assured K. Iatromanolakis.
Regarding his withdrawal request Presidential Ddecreesaid that with a relevant recent amendment “they are expressly excluded from the PD artists in the state (…) Now the request is granted by law.”
As for the next steps (recruitment and payroll), “mostly for municipalities and parts of the state that are not resolved because they are resolved in our own agencies,” he said the goal is to resolve. He also expressed a personal opinion that “The DE of actors is wrong and the TE of actors is wrong because actors are something else and should be judged, paid and hired otherwise.”
Finally, he said that “we take on the responsibility that falls on us” and that “we invite everyone to dialogue to sit down and look at the outstanding issues and resolve all these issues.”
S. Anagnostopoulou: The world of culture has been on the streets for two months now because the depreciation continues
For its part, the deputy SYRIZA-PS, Anagnostopoulu Co., said: a) “I ask and at the same time undertake, as the official opposition, to immediately remove the category of DE in P.D. and an amendment regarding artists when they offer not only artistic work, but also educational and administrative work.” b) Maximization, i.e. “higher public school to finally get an art education in Greece.”
Speaking of the inter-ministerial groups recommended by the government, he said that most of the participants are agents of the service, that the trade unions are not involved and that “you asked them to make a conclusion in a month (…)”, while he stressed, among other things: ” We have zero hour and students should not miss the school year. (…) Movements must be done quickly to feel that their struggle has taken place: The withdrawal of art specialties from PD. Recognition of their professional rights as TE and then we discuss everything else.
“Folk degrees must be recognized by the TE for their professional rights. The world of culture has been on the streets for two months now, because there is a continuum of discredit going on with your government: until they got the rights that all other workers had during the pandemic, it must have been a very long time because they were not recognized as workers. They were not there, they were invisible,” Ms. Anagnostopoulou also emphasized.
