“It is with deep sadness that I have to intervene in what has been recorded in recent days as a result of the failure of the elections during the first round of elections. A speech aimed at a sober reflection on where our historical faction is heading. During the long presence of the Democratic Anxiety, we have experienced important electoral successes, but also painful defeats. The founder and historical leader, Glaukos Cleridis, never shied away from and never allowed, either publicly or in the collective bodies of the party, unacceptable insinuations attributed to the detriment of the rank and file members, and even more so the historical leaders of the party. A leadership attitude that allowed us to calmly manage each result, acknowledge the real reasons for failures and unite to move forward even stronger. Opposing the organized efforts of some to discredit the great achievements of the ten years of government and in particular the attempts without moral barriers to denigrate my name and always with the aim of preserving the unity of our historical faction, but also with the good intentions of the interests of our Cyprus, I call on everyone to immediately stop the confrontations between the leaders that the members and friends of the Democratic Anxiety be deliberately left free to choose.
