The President of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Chamber of Deputies Bohdan Gutsuke (PNL) draws PSD’s attention that the introduction of a solidarity tax for large companies will lead to destabilization and damage to the Romanian economy. Gutsuke also says that this measure “will affect the dynamics of jobs, as well as revenues to the state budget.”
“Such a measure will only destabilize and affect the economy of Romania. This measure will have the same effect as the pole tax that was introduced a few years ago. Companies will suspend their investment projects they created in Romania and suppress your activities. In the medium term, this measure will affect both the dynamics of jobs and revenues to the state budget,” says the president of the Finance and Budget Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.
Huțucă draws attention to the fact that these companies have different rates of profit, carrying out their activities in different fields of activity. A unitary tax rate of 1% can turn into “confiscation of profits and transfer them to the loss zone”.
The deputy also says that the problem of profit outsourcing is for all EU countries. “There are multinational companies that optimize themselves fiscally, but for this every state has invested in the training of civil servants, software, equipment and information exchange (…) For this we have laws, organizational structure, we have attributions, we have there are state powers to prevent this situation. You cannot cover up the failure of the state to carry out its activities by making inconsistent changes to the legislation, which may in the long run affect the extremely important investment process in Romania,” Gutsuke emphasizes.
Since the beginning of the year, the PSD has supported the proposal to introduce a solidarity tax in the context of the upcoming government round in May, and Marcel Çolaku will be the prime minister.
Liberals have already said they do not approve PSD’s solidarity tax proposal because the business environment in Romania needs “predictability”.
