Alfa Romeo’s electric revolution is about to begin. From 2024 the range will include the first 100% electric model, then from 2027 Alfa Romeo will present only electric models. The Bison manufacturer has one of today’s most ambitious electrification strategies.
So next year, Alfa Romeo will launch a new model that will be sold in Europe, but will mainly target the American market.
A flagship that will challenge the German awards
The date is still quite far, but the CEO of the brand, Jean-Philippe Imparato, has already revealed a few details about this model during the presentation of Tonale in Japan. At the same time, the latter stated that the brand is being studied luxury model for the E-segmentthe same as the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes E-Class and other Audi A6s.
Then a little surprise so it won’t be just SUVs. This model could well take the form of a sedan: “This year, the shapes and design of the body will be clearer. But it will not necessarily be a crossover or an SUV. Going electric makes aerodynamics very important, so it makes sense to look to a sedan or a more creative model that transcends the traditional division between segments.– said the manager.
Up to 1000 hp for the Quadrifoglio version
In addition to the XL size, to try to better penetrate the American market (the brand wants to sell 40% of its cars outside Europe by 2030, compared to 18% now). Alfa Romeo will always focus on performance.
Jean-Philippe Imparato clarifies that this model, which he says will be electric, will be based on a new 800-volt architecture that allows ultra-fast charging in about 18 minutes. The power will be on from 350 to 800 hpwhile the Quadrifoglio versions should achieve more than 1000 hp.
In the meantime, however, the brand’s first electric vehicle should be an urban SUV, or rather a technical cousin of the Jeep Avenger.
