“Will we stay in Europe? Wiretapping, Rights and the Rule of Law’: Spiked Tapping

The need to give substantiated answers to the question of telephone surveillance yesterday drew the attention of the former vice-premier, professor of constitutional law at AUTH. Evangelos Venizelos in his speech at the event titled “Will we stay in Europe? Listening, rights and the rule of law”. Mr. Venizelos stressed that the ADAE President’s initiative, Christ Rammos, informing the Speaker of Parliament, political parties and the Minister of Justice of the results of the Authority’s inspections is “a direct and personal competence, the failure to use which would constitute a breach of duty”. In fact, speaking of the ADAE president, he emphasized that it was he who contacted the then chairman of the parliament, Nikos Voutsis, by phone and offered his choice of an independent government. Referring to the results of the ADAE investigation, Mr. Venizelos raised a number of issues, while he pointed out the inadequacy of all the actions that have been taken so far, and pointed out: “The issue of ED leadership, prestige and confidentiality of messages that are essentially military messages, demands that the prime minister himself immediately formulate a reasonable and well-founded response and immediately inform at least the leaders of the parties.”

For his part, Professor of Constitutional Law EKPA Nikos Alivisatos he disagreed with Professor Pantheon’s assessment Xenophon Kontiadis that the country is slipping towards urbanization, and he stressed that despite any weaknesses, our country is firmly in the liberal democracies, it is not a “Kashetian democracy” as he said. However, he identified shortcomings in the process of accountability in parliament, and in the existence and functioning of effective institutional balances.

In his statement on the questions asked by the audience of the event, Professor AUTH Iphigenia Kamcidu noted that a simple violation is different from the repeal of the Constitution. He raised the question, however, whether the accumulation of repeated violations affects the nature, character, quality, physiognomy of the condition.
