Premiere of pre-election polarization

A vote of no confidence in the government from SYRIZA was rejected yesterday, as a majority of 156 deputies voted against it. Prior to this, with no new evidence, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Alexis Tsipras had been arguing with each other about all cases at the moment, with wiretapping and Mr. “Little Mary” “. In fact, even the case of Koskota and Akis Tsochatsopoulos was a field of conflict. p. 5

Toxic conflict with no new evidence

George Burdaras

The refusal of the parliamentary group from the N.D. with a 156 deputies vote of no confidence in the government, presented by SYRIZA and supported by 143 opposition deputies, this was the last act of a three-day process that had the characteristics of a toxic conflict, without, however, the emergence of any new evidence in the case of observation.

Shortly before the vote, a bitter confrontation took place between the prime minister and the leader of the official opposition, the content of which, like the previous “battles” in the plenary session between deputies from all sides, is considered a harbinger of the climate that will prevail throughout the election campaign.

Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Tsipras raised their voices on the occasion of the speech by the head of ADAE Chr. Rammo, but also with references to… the Koskotas scandal.

Mr. Mitsotakis and Al. Tsipras raised his tone, even having three episodes of “heated dialogue” between them: the first was a direct dialogue, with the Prime Minister on the floor and the President of SYRIZA rising from his seat – in a rare parliamentary moment – discussing with him in a strong tone (as seen from the side ) on the content of the letter from the President of ADAE Chr. Rammu. The second meant the publication of the 1989 era. “Once a question hung on the shelves, unfairly, as it turned out later, about another prime minister. And what did this question say? Guilty or stupid? You voluntarily chose the second option,” said the President of SYRIZA, addressing the Prime Minister in the case of wiretapping. Mr. Mitsotakis raised his glove: “I remembered something when you used the phrase ‘guilty or black’, he characteristically said and continued: time, because of the Koskotas scandal involving Papandreou, Koutsoyorgas and Mr. Mantzouranis , who is currently counsel for Mr. Pappas. From diapers, we moved on to bags. So be careful when you make such historical references without knowing their origin.”

For the third time, Mr. Tsipras, once again sharpening his criticism of the government’s weapons programs, said: “Remember that Tsohatzopoulos turned out to be what he turned out to be.” Mr. Mitsotakis did not leave this unanswered either: “You leave vile insinuations. If you are looking for Tsohatsopoulos’ travel companions, you will find them in your group. Look at Mr. Ragusi. He sits next to you.”

Finally, it should be noted that in the voting, in which only the independent A. Pacis was absent, deputies from all parties, including Mr. K. Karamanlis, who was outside Athens, and Mr. A. Samaras from illness. .

Dialogue about writing

Mrs. Mitsotakis: You left ADAE, finally waving the envelope. With an envelope. It says “confidential”. You made him a flyer. But you did not answer us whether the letter that the President of Power promised you mentioned the names that you published today or not. If the names were not there, then you are once again misleading the parliament. I can tell you with certainty that there were no names in the letter Mr. Rammos sent me. Did Mr Rammos send you another letter? Answer: Were there any names? Yes or no;

Al. Tsipras: Mr. Rammos was replying to a letter I sent on December 28th with specific names. Don’t try to play maid here. You will answer the questions I ask you, and you will not ask questions yourself. You are the accused, not the accuser.

Mrs. Mitsotakis: Okay, we got it. Mr. Tsipras confirmed that there were no names in the letter he received. Thanks a lot for the clarifications. And how can there be names, because in the letter that Mr. Rammos sent me, he has exactly the letter that he sent you, and there are no names.

Mitsotakis: “You didn’t talk about suitcases with money”

Stavros Papantoniou

In a letter from Mr. Rammos, which he said contained no names, the Prime Minister focused on the high-level clash with Alexis Tsipras in the National Delegation, thus wishing to underscore what the Maximos Palace believed were “underground routes” between Commander and President of ADAE.

Mr. Mitsotakis didn’t stop there, as he had previously spoken more broadly about wiretapping, acknowledging the “mistakes” of the government. “On the issue of wiretapping, the government and I spoke out from the very beginning, we took political responsibility and voted for a new operational framework for the EMP,” he said and added: “Without ignoring the mistakes that have been made, and without we intend to dissolve EYP. The Prime Minister noted that the new law strikes a balance “between the benefits of individual rights and the need for collective protection and security.”

From that moment, Mr. Mitsotakis, as announced, attempted a counterattack on three points:
• First, he asked the leader of the official opposition to give his position on the case of Mr. Kalogritsa and what had come to light. “So many days you haven’t talked about the suitcases with money, which, it seems, went from Mr. Kalogritsa to SYRIZA,” he said characteristically.

• Secondly, he referred to the case of the supposed death of “little Mary”, asking Mr. Tsipras to apologize. “Why were we so sure that there was no ‘little Mary’, Mr. Tsipras? Precisely because we have special services that can provide us with such data,” he said and continued: “You are naive or dangerous when you neglect national interests because of its desire to harm the government.” He was also asked if SYRIZA would tear down the fence on Evros if she became the government.

• Thirdly, he recalled the Novartis case, referring to the very “hard past” of SYRIZA, which “mastered the conspiracy”.

At the end of his speech, the prime minister chose to talk about “the future” while accusing Mr. Tsipras of avoiding it. “You have absolutely nothing to say about the future of this place. You didn’t say today either. You can’t talk not only about the future, but also about your past,” he said, recalling that Mr. Tsipras chose to submit a vote of no confidence on January 25, which coincides with the day he became prime minister in 2015, the moment when most Greeks want to forget.”

Tsipras: “Prime Minister is twice to blame”

Antonis Anzoletou

Alexis Tsipras’s speech in parliament contained accusatory speeches, harsh tones, sharp characterizations and a number of questions to observers. “Today you are twice guilty. Because things happen, Mr. Mitsotakis,” he said, adding, “It’s not a mistake, if you knew about it, you wouldn’t let it happen. This is a well organized plan. This is not a dirty web. This is a criminal organization. This is not a failure. It’s a management model.” According to the President of SYRIZA, the government’s “vote of confidence” was Pyrrhic, and Komunduru believes that the Prime Minister confirmed his innocence, as he did not answer any of the questions asked by Alexis Tsipras. “Why did you listen to Mr. Hatsidakis? Did he pose a threat to national security? Or are there reasons related to material, and not to national reality? The leader of the official opposition insisted a lot on the connection, confirmed by ADAE, with the mobile phone of the leader of GEETHA. “Did you listen to Mr. Floros with the order signed by Ms. Vlahova for reasons of national security, because he was a suspect, or because you wanted to blackmail him? And why did you want to blackmail him? Did he have an opinion that did not always coincide with the opinion of the political leadership, even about the equipment that you decided?” In his almost hour-long speech, he accused the prime minister of hiding and said that he had known everything for six months, “lies everywhere” .

According to party sources, the official opposition was waiting for Kyriakos Mitsotakis, diverting attention so as not to take a stand on the merits of ADAE’s findings. That is why Alexis Tsipras invited him to the televised debate, and also to “not throw the ball into the podium.”

Making a brief comparison of the actions of the two parties, the President of SYRIZA characterized the ND. party “Pacis, Stasis, Heimaras, Maravejas, Nikolaos and Petsas”. He recalled that the ruling faction bankrupted the country twice and handed over the empty treasury to SYRIZA. At this point, he countered the €37 billion airbag his party handed over in July 2019. The debate gave Alexis Tsipras another opportunity to prove that he leads the progressive opposition as a whole. In this context, he pointed out that the bet is that “on the benches of the government at the first meeting after simple proportional elections, a government of progressive cooperation will sit, which has decided to turn the page for the country.”

Two fronts against N.D. and SYRIZA from PASOK and KPG

The vote against the government, as expected, as well as the decision to keep a distance from SYRIZA by “reprimanding” the official opposition party for the policies it follows, was a common ground for the leaders of minor opposition parties to intervene in the context of the SYRIZA vote of no confidence parliamentary procedure.

“The useless history of undermining institutions under the SYRIZA-ANEL government does not justify the Prime Minister for violating fundamental rights and organizing a parastatal surveillance network,” said PASOK President N. Androulakis, adding: among other things: “And one reminder: a Democratic Party with anti-democratic practices is not exists, Mr. Tsipras.” Earlier in the plenary hall, Mr. M.Katrinis said: “This government, this prime minister cannot continue. They have done enormous damage to the country, to democracy, to the rule of law.”

Mr Dim. Kutsubas repeated that “the condemnation of the KKE by the government of N.D. it is given and permanent. It’s about the stinking wiretapping and surveillance scandal and all her political decisions that put problems on people’s backs.” Let’s add that “SYRIZA is already a dirty nest” and about monitoring the rallies in the call center of the CHRG.

“We are not for a vote of no confidence, only for wiretapping. We are against the government from the very beginning on all issues, because its policy is anti-popular,” emphasized the president of Hellenic Solution, Mr. Velopoulos, for his part, arguing that ND, SYRIZA and PASOK are pursuing the same policy. choice.

“Obviously, in MeRA25 we are voting for censure,” G. Varoufakis, the head of MeRA25, says in a statement (from Cuba, where he is located).
