“We must face the truth in order to be able to change it,” says SYRIZA-PS President Alexis Tsipras in a social media post on the occasion of today’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities, adding: “Our fellow citizens with disabilities continue to experience inequality and social exclusion. The National Action Plan for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities SYRIZA-PS has the goal: “Nothing for us without us.”
“Our fellow citizens with disabilities continue to face inequality, social exclusion, limited accessibility in public space, at work, in social life, in today’s digital environment. The National Action Plan for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities SYRIZA-PS aims to change the everyday life of a person with a disability. We are changing the way damage is confirmed and repaired. Among other innovative measures, we are introducing a personal assistant even on a 24/7 basis. We are increasing the cost of disability benefits and providing them regardless of age. We are moving towards inclusive education so that no citizen is left behind. We will implement a disabled person’s pass that will be linked to their electronic file so that it is constantly updated and can be “read” everywhere.”

Alexis Tsipras also refers to the role of the healthcare system: “No matter how much we want to propose, no matter how important the attitude of each of us towards a disabled neighbor, friend, fellow citizen, nothing changes radically without a strong healthcare system. What destroys the current government – What we will restore from the first day. In the New NHS we have announced, we are building infrastructure for hospitals and health centers so that people with disabilities have easy access. We develop comprehensive medical home care and nursing services. The goal is one and absolute: to realize the motto of the movement of the disabled “Nothing for us without us”.
