AUR leader George Simion and AUR MP Dan Tenase were one step away from getting into a fight at a plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies with the government’s secretary of state on Tuesday. The scandal began with the discussion of a bill that provided for the opening of public centers for Romanians from the diaspora.
At the final vote, the presiding judge cut off the microphone of AUR leader George Simion as he explained the vote. The Secretary of State for Romanian Affairs, Gheorghe Carciu, who was in the Presidium, told Simion that he was talking too much.
His answer caused a scandal. George Simion and AUR MP Dan Tenase stood by the secretary of state demanding an explanation.
George Simion: “You are the minister for Romanians all over the world and you tell me that I am not allowed to speak? You live on the money of Romanians from the diaspora, what are your merits? Well, minister!”
Dan Tanase: “Get me out of here servant! Get out of here!”
To calm the spirits, PSD group leader Alfred Simonis intervened between the three.
This is not the first time that AUR deputies have committed such an offense. AUR leader George Simion was on the verge of a brawl in the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies with Energy Minister Virgil Popescu, while MP Dan Tenase clashed in the halls of parliament with two USR MPs.
- George Simion scolded the Minister of Energy, Virgil Popescu, when he spoke in the parliamentary gallery: You are a thief! / Popescu: He approached me with threats
- Two parliamentarians are close to a fight in the parliament hall / Dan Tănasă from AUR insults USR MPs: I am a louse! You are zero barat
