Sebastian Reduleca, Romania’s representative in the Venice Commission, was replaced three months after his appointment by the government. Offered by his former boss, Minister of Justice Katalin Preda, for the position of deputy at the Venice Commission, Redulesu resigned on another offer, this time to be appointed as a judge at the ECHR.
In top secrecy, on June 23, 2022, the Ministry of Justice proposed Foreign Minister Bohdan Aureska to represent Romania at the Venice Commission, and Sebastian Redulec, a former advisor to Catalin Preda, was proposed to replace him.
Three months after the proposal, Redulec was recalled from the position of deputy member and replaced by the judge of the Constitutional Court, Yulia Skantei. Also, under great secrecy, the government appointed Julia Shkantey as a deputy member, and information about this appeared on the official website of the Venice Commission after her participation in the commission’s meeting.
On October 19, the government approved the final list of proposals for the position of judge of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), since the mandate of the representative of Romania, Julia Motok, expires on December 17.
The name of Sebastian Redulesa can be found among the three suggestions of the judge (other suggestions: Rezvan Horaciu Radu and Claudia Zderu). Also, according to HotNews.ro sources, Sebastián Reduleçu would be the favorite for the ECDO judge position.
