PNL First Vice-President Raresh Bohdan appealed to Minister of Labor Marius Buday to “stop lying to pensioners all night with crocodile screams” and solve the pension problem. He also stated that the PSD, through the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Finance, would do well to find money to increase pensions as much as possible.

On Sunday, Raresh Bohdan was asked on the air of Digi 24 how much pensions will be increased.

“As long as there is money and the profits of energy companies and sales have increased significantly, I think we should look for solutions. If you respect pensioners. I don’t want to throw percentages into the public space, I’m just saying that the law is very simple. If we consider January 1, 2023 as the moment when we have to increase pensions, and that’s all, the law very clearly states the percentage of inflation of the previous year. The previous year in my calculations is 2002. In 2022, the inflation rate is 15.3. When the President of Romania talked about the 15% inflation rate, the Prime Minister of Romania, Gheorghe Flutur, myself and other colleagues who talked about this percentage, said it in this role,” said Rares Bohdan.

He asked the finance minister to find money to increase pensions.

“PSD has two ministers, the Minister of Labor and the Minister of Finance. Let’s do it to find money and increase pensions as much as possible without unbalancing Romania’s budget in any way. I believe that if we want to and if we respect the people who worked in this country, we will find a solution to this issue. But I would like them to worry about the investment sphere as much as possible. I would like to see as much concern in the field of Romanian companies. I would like to see as much attention as possible for the sphere of public investment, private investment, investment in the energy sector. It is very good that we are concerned about the fate of pensioners. But the fate of pensioners does not concern only those from PSD or PNL. I am convinced that anyone who has even a modicum of self-awareness and respect for those who have done something in this country should also be concerned about the fate of those who have left the workforce,” the first vice president of the PNL also conveyed.

He also touched on the issue of special pensions.

“The issue related to special pensions, I said it and I repeat it, if the political class in Romania really understands that we cannot have special categories and a large mass of unprotected people, then we will solve this problem. Mr Buday must come with the model he promised, that he is German, that he is French, that he is Italian, that he must come with the law, put it on the table and find a solution, because this is a milestone in the PNRR and we risk blocking it , drawing money from PNRR if we do not solve this problem. That’s why we can’t play anymore. And in the case of the army, we are talking about a labor pension. I don’t think anyone wakes up today to influence the Romanian army in any way. I waited for about a week, and I, and the Romanians, and the Romanian army with the proposal of the Minister of the Ministry of National Defense, precisely because we are in a difficult situation, and this country must have a Minister of Defense, “said Rares Bohdan.

The NLP MEP asked Labor Minister Marius Budai to stop “lying to pensioners with crocodile screams.”

“Mr. Budai should stop lying to pensioners all evening with crocodile screams and solve the problem. He has to present the legislation that we expect him to come up with in the coalition to solve this problem. If we are serious people. If we want to complain and show that we cannot do in Romania, then of course we continue this national chorus crying on the shoulders of pensioners, but in fact we do not solve anything,” concluded Rares Bohdan.
