The leader of deputies from AUR, Antonio Andruschak, said on Wednesday that the representative of this party was “abusedly” excluded from the list of parliamentarians who are going to go to the USA as part of a mission to observe the partial (“interim”) elections, reports Agerpres.
He specified that the AUR will take all legal measures to respect the rights of deputy groups.
“The list of abuses suffered by AUR parliamentarians goes on and on, and today all these things, which are nothing more than revenge, which goes from the personal level to the level of the parliamentary group and the Parliament of Romania, ended with the delisting of the trip with the OSCE PA mission to observe the by-elections in the USA of the representative to the OSCE PA from the AUR, Mr. Cipriano Titi Stoica,” he said.
“We will take all legal steps to ensure that such violations of rights, which any deputy group must appoint in accordance with the political algorithm and according to its own political will, of members in various commissions, are observed,” – people’s deputy. AUR said at a press conference.
Andruschak also said that those in the government who would “organize” the action are to blame:
“All the discussions in the Permanent Bureau and the Committee of Leaders have been frankly irrelevant to the legality of the actions organized by colleagues in the ruling coalition, so that only those in the current government participate in these elections in part from the United States as observers.”
“This is an unprecedented thing that we will not let pass either silently or without consequences at the legislative level,” he assured.
George Simion also did not make it to the United States
In September, George Simeon, in turn, blamed “extreme pressure” for canceling a visit he had planned to make to the US to attend a dinner with former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, an event organized by the Israel Heritage Foundation. .
“After further consideration and in the spirit of unity, I regret to inform you that the Israel Heritage Foundation is unable to honor your participation as we have not received confirmation regarding the September 18 dinner with Pompeo,” the foundation told the AUR leader at the time. .
Simion accused Romania’s ambassador to the US, Andrei Murau, of intervening by phone to rescind the invitation.
At the beginning of the year, in connection with the postponement of the Romanian language olympiad and other disciplines due to the pandemic, the party under the leadership of George Simion issued a press release in which it accused the Romanian state of “ideological experiments” on Romanian children and emphasized that the Holocaust is ” secondary topic” that does not deserve to be reduced to the “rank” of the subject of research.
The press release drew a public backlash from the Israeli embassy and the Elie Wiesel Institute, which called it “offensive statements that ‘downplay the tragedy of the Holocaust.’
