Finance Minister Adrian Cachiu said on Saturday that pensions would increase in 2023 and that the increase would be “higher than the law”.
However, what the percentage will be, the minister does not say.
“The increase in pensions has been announced and remains, so to speak, the last discussion in the coalition when we have the entire budget. We must not forget that we also have an additional amount for defense. We must not forget that we have a number of elements that need to be taken into account, in the sense that economic growth will obviously decrease next year. But the increase in pensions will and will be higher than stipulated by law. That’s all I can say. I won’t say the percentage,” Cachiu said on Antena 3.
Earlier, Minister of Labor Marius Budai claimed that the increase in the budget in terms of pensions will be “minimum 10%”.
“The impact on the budget is 11 billion lei. When we made this proposal, we at PSD did a very good job of analyzing it, combining and modeling the data in such a way that we could make sure we had the budget space. The figures I used can be modeled and used by anyone, they are on the National Forecasting Commission website, the National Institute of Statistics website, the Eurostat website, the developments that later came from the IMF for economic growth , on the implementation of the budget and on receipts and there are no problems, we can provide this increase from January 1. The budget increase will be at least 10% from January 1, and there will be no increase in two stages,” said Marius Budai in an intervention on Realitatea Plus.
On October 13, Prime Minister Nikolay Chuke said that the increase in pensions from January 1, 2023 should take place taking into account budgetary possibilities, but the percentage cannot exceed 11%.
According to the law, starting from 2023, the size of the pension point increases by the average annual inflation rate, to which is added a 50% real increase in the average accrued salary, the final figures, according to the National Institute of Statistics.
