Greece welcomes the agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon on the delimitation of their maritime zones through the mediation efforts of the United States and especially the American High Energy Security Adviser Amos Hochstein, the Greek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

According to the same statement, this agreement will promote peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and is therefore an example to be followed by all countries in the region.

The agreement between Israel and Lebanon on maritime zones demonstrates that the settlement of disputes between countries regarding the delimitation of maritime zones is possible only if international law is respected, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Recall that Greece has already concluded two agreements on the delimitation of the EEZ with Italy and Egypt, and also agreed with Albania to refer the issue to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
