“We have argued from the very beginning that we should take care to align ourselves with this decision. There is a possibility that from 2023, as we have discussed in the coalition and stated each time, we will support an increase in the minimum wage and, of course, pensions, but these data, as is normal and responsible, will be released after we receive the budget forecast for 2023,” said Cuke, answering a question about Romania’s compliance with the decision of the European Parliament. for the minimum wage.

He said there is political will, from both the PNL and the PSD, to raise the minimum wage and pensions in 2023.

Regarding the possibility of providing vouchers for 50 euros also at the beginning of 2023, the Prime Minister indicated that similar measures can be taken next year, depending on the development of the situation and available funds.

“Depending on the development of the situation and the funds at our disposal, on the one hand, we must cover the rate of inflation, on the other hand, also depending on the specific situation and the development of inflation and the economy, as we did this year – and we have already two measures to provide vulnerable citizens, with low salaries, with low pensions, this financial support, the first in the first half of the year, the second in the second half of the year – Let’s think and we will take similar measures next year as well,” said Nicolae Chuke.
