“We decided to postpone the start of discussion of the articles by two days, taking into account the request of colleagues from the opposition for a longer period to study the large number of amendments submitted to the draft laws,” Andronakh explained on Monday in the parliament.

Parliamentarians from the PSD and the PNL submitted a number of amendments to the laws on justice in the version proposed by the Minister of Justice Catalin Preda. Sources in the parliament told HotNews.ro that there are several proposals aimed at the powers of the CSM.

Moreover, according to HotNews.ro sources, Marcel Čolaku and Nikolaj Čuke would have discussed the laws on justice on Monday at the government and agreed that the deadline for their adoption by the parliament is October 10.

It will be recalled that three laws on justice, proposed to the parliament by the Ministry of Justice, were discussed in the parliament. The draft laws were drafted by the Government in order to correct the harmful changes made in the management of the PSD.

The abolition of the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (MCV) and Romania’s entry into Schengen are subject to the adoption of laws on justice. In addition, the adoption of justice laws is an important milestone for Romania in the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan).

Several associations of magistrates and non-governmental organizations criticized the package of laws drafted by the Ministry of Justice, saying many of the harmful changes criticized by international bodies in recent years remain in place.
