This time, AUR deputies were concerned that the Minister of Energy did not sit in the presidium, as is required by custom when a measure against the minister is being considered, but sat in the deputy’s place, in the hall.

AUR MPs Viorel Fokša and Titi Aur went to where the minister was sitting, but were stopped by their PNL colleagues who did not allow them to approach him. This moment facilitated the departure of Virgil Popescu to the podium to deliver his speech.

In response, the Minister of Energy came to the podium of the plenum with a medal from the communist times and announced to Giorgi Simion that he was awarding him with a medal of the Order of Labor III degree for the fact that he managed to overcome the “five-year plan”. for Russian propaganda in two and a half years.”

“To Mr. George Simeon, I tell you that I stopped taking Mr. George Simeon seriously a long time ago. Of course, he keeps talking and never made a single offer. Now I understand that there will be a big demonstration on October 2nd. It’s normal, everyone has the right to do it,” said Virgil Popescu.

Energy Minister Virgil Popescu went on to accuse the USR and AUR of debating the proposal as “a political statement on steroids, good only to shake things up a bit, as if the border war and delicate European context weren’t enough”.

Popescu accused USR representatives of scaring Romanians with gas and electricity bills, and to prove the baselessness of USR’s accusations, he waved his electricity bill from the podium.

“Here is my account. This is how much I paid. I want to see the invoice of Mr. Drula, Ms. Prune and yes, Ludovic, I want to see your invoice too! Dear colleagues in the opposition, let’s show all the bills! This is my account, I live in Bucharest. It costs 120 lei. I used 140 kWh. It’s true, I also have a house in Drobeta-Turnu-Severin, where I also calculated, the costs are a little higher there, because I installed heat pumps to save gas,” explained the minister.

MPs discussed a simple motion initiated by the USR against Energy Minister Virgil Popescu, which will be voted on on Wednesday. The simple movement is called “Romania without energy”. Romanians are paying for the incompetence of Virgil Popescu” and was submitted by the USR on September 1, on the first day of the regular session of the parliament.
