PMP President Eugen Tomak says he is ashamed to attend the opening of the school year in Romania and that he is outraged by the lessons politicians teach on the first day of school.

“I was deeply outraged by the wave of “lessons” from politicians on the first day of training. I will not go to any openings today, because I am ashamed. I think politicians should read some data first before wandering around schools saying mostly crazy things to students. More than 50% of our students cannot read well, write correctly or count – we call this functional illiteracy. Nearly 4,000 schools do not have an ISU permit on the first day of school. 1,400 educational institutions in the digital age are not connected to the Internet. Although this is the most important area in which the state should invest, the budget for education this year is 2.28% of GDP,” Tomač wrote on Facebook.

The PMP leader also says that “the lack of investment in the education system will block the country’s development for the next 50 years.”
