Monitoring: “Self-protection of the process” Tasoulas asks the committee of institutions

The Speaker of Parliament raised the issue of “self-defence of the process”. Costas Tassoulasduring today’s conference of the Presidents of Parliament, which considered the organization of tomorrow’s secret meeting of the Committee on Institutions and Transparency in the case of surveillance.

As Mr. Tasulas told the parliamentary editorial staff, he asked the representatives of the party to help us, so that there would be no phenomena of direct transmission of the secret process.

As for the process itself, Mr. Tasoulas said that it was about rumor (about guests) which, in essence, constitutes parliamentary control, and that the Commission does not act as a prosecutor of first instance. He also noted that all those present at the closed session will come out together and that they will speak/ask questions in turn.

In the proposal of the opposition parties to publish the minutes of the meeting without any data relating to national security and defense, he stressed that the regulation only provides for the issuance of a “conclusion”, that is, an agreed text in the form of conclusions.

This is the only way out, however (agreeing with such a conclusion) is an “impressive task”, he said.

The Chairman of the Parliament added that the deputies were asked not to take mobile phones with them to the committee’s meeting room.
