Attendance: Towards an Exam Recommendation

In an atmosphere of tense political tension, parliamentary procedures were officially launched yesterday, aimed at tapping the phone of N. Androulakis by the EPM. The main of these procedures is the investigation of a particular case by a commission of inquiry, the creation of which, at the request of PASOK, is “locked”, since neither party objects to the principle. In the background, however, there are ongoing processes regarding the terms of the investigation, which will be proposed to the members of the Commission being created. So the question is whether it will be formed only by the votes of the opposition parties – 120 votes are required – or also by the ND.

As agreed at the Conference of Presidents yesterday, with strong objections, mainly from Mr. Androulaki, regarding the sequence of meetings that would be hectic over the next 24 hours, discussion and decision on the PASOK proposal was scheduled for Monday, August 29th. . It will be preceded on Friday by a pre-day discussion at the level of political leaders at the request of SYRIZA, in which the President of PASOK is known not to participate, and tomorrow by a special meeting of the Committee on Institutions and Transparency with the sole purpose of approving the appointment of Mr. intelligence service.

Tensions yesterday in the Committee of Institutions – on Friday the debate at the level of leaders in Parliament.

The same committee will meet again next week, this time based on another request from PASOK, to consider the case of Mr. Androulakis’ phone “wiring”, primarily the former and current commander of the EMP, former K.K. Government G. Dimitriadis, Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office Vasiliki Vlakhov and Chairman of ADAE Chr. Rammos. At a meeting of the commission, the main topic of which was this topic, PASOK invited the ND, among other things, to present evidence on the basis of which the investigation of the Investigative Committee could be deployed in time in the past, and not limit only the monitoring of Mr. Androulakis and in the aspect of illegal software securing the Predator.

In this case, the intervention of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation is of particular interest, since its leadership, intensifying the pressure that it has been exerting for a long time, so that the Investigative Committee also investigates the case of “collusions”, which have been reported since 2016 in the Periss telephone exchange, now says explicitly that if the PASOK proposal to be approved does not explicitly include cases of “hearings”, it is oriented towards filing its own request. It is noted that, based on what is expected, in order for the investigation committee proposed by PASOK to be able to extend the investigation in time beyond cases related to the current situation, it should alternatively:

a) Accept, subject to Monday’s vote, PASOK and include the KKE proposal in its own request.

b) That there should not be immediate changes so that the commission of inquiry is set up exactly as proposed by Mr. Andrulaki’s party, but that it be discussed in the course of its work and that a majority be formed among its members, so that it is requested at the next stage and in the new plenary meeting “mandate” to further investigate past cases.

This opportunity could perhaps be used by the ND, which will have a majority in the examination board anyway, as it wants a deeper investigation than what the KKE is seeking, i.e. since 2012.
