In the Ulyanovsk region on Sunday, August 21, a minibus and two trucks collided. A traffic accident occurred near the village of Nikolaevka in the Nikolaevsky district on the M-5 Ural highway, reports the press service of the regional emergency department. According to the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the driver of one of the trucks did not slow down in time and collided with a minibus.

According to preliminary information, 16 people died as a result of the accident, according to the website of the government of the Ulyanovsk region. Investigators have opened a criminal case under the article on violation of traffic rules and vehicle operation.

According to the governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Alexei Russkikh, three victims of the accident are in serious condition, doctors at the Nikolaev regional hospital are fighting for their lives. “All necessary medical care is being provided. We are preparing patients for transfer to the regional specialist trauma center located in Ulyanovsk,” wrote the head of the region on his Telegram channel.
