Staikouras to get out of the strengthened economy: Greece returns to European normality

“The key national goal has been achieved,” emphasizes the Minister of Finance. Christos Staikouras for the withdrawal of Greece from the regime of enhanced opportunism.

In his statement, Mr. Staikouras notes that after 12 years, our country “is returning to European normality and is no longer an exception in the eurozone.”

According to him, this important achievement is the fruit and recognition:

  • great efforts and huge sacrifices of the Greek citizens,
  • significant efforts of its economic, social and political structures
    Greek Society,
  • correct, responsible, reliable and, as it was recognized throughout the world, effective economic policy of the government of the New Republic.

According to the Minister of Finance, this development has many benefits for the country:

  • Together with the early repayment of loans from the International Monetary Fund and the lifting of capital restrictions, it closes a painful chapter for Greece.
  • This strengthens the country’s position in international markets.
  • This gives an additional impetus to the development potential of our country and attracting investment.
  • It provides degrees of freedom in the implementation of economic policy within, of course, the rules that apply to all European member states.
  • This proves the momentum that the Greek economy has acquired, as despite unprecedented external difficulties, the country is achieving its goals.

The last big goal for the government’s economic staff is to restore investment grade after 11 improvements in the Greek economy over the past three years.

“We continue planning with determination and believing in the possibilities of our homeland, but also fully aware of the challenges we face,” says Christus Staikouras.

And he concludes: “We must continue to work in an atmosphere of creation, with foresight and diligence, to make Greece comprehensively stronger and its economy more dynamic, productive, open and socially just.”
