Athens – Ankara: Soylu’s statements are provocative – they have nothing to do with reality

Citizens Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos described as provocative statements by Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu that Greece trains PKK members in Lavrion.

In his statements, Mr. Theodorikakos stated that the complaints of the Turkish Interior Minister have nothing to do with reality.

At the same time, he accused Ankara of using migrants as a tool, pushing them to the borders, and stressed that Greece defends its borders in the name of international law.

“The statements by the Turkish Interior Minister that Greece is a terrorist training center are provocative and have nothing to do with truth and reality. And all of Europe knows this. Because he knows very well that Turkey continues to exploit unfortunate people, illegal migrants, as it did in March 2020, forcibly pushing them many times to our borders, which are the borders of Europe with Turkey. We will not allow. We defend our borders in the name of international law.”

Soylu: “Greece trains PKK members in Lavrion”

It is recalled that in an interview, the Turkish Interior Minister accused Athens of training PKK members in Lavrio.

“Unfortunately, Greece has again activated the Lavrion camp, there is also Germany… And despite this phase, and although this is the period when Europe and the United States support the PKK the most, we are experiencing the most successful period in the fight against terrorism,” said the Minister of the Interior Turkey, according to the correspondent of “Kathimerini” and “SKAI” in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis.

In February, the Turkish Interior Minister claimed that PKK members train at the Lavrio camp and then move on to northern Iraq.
