Daria Kasatkina is Russia’s first racket. In July, she openly declared her homosexuality. “It’s hard to live in a closet for a long time and it doesn’t make sense. It will constantly go around in your head until you say so,” she said in an interview with sports blogger Vita Kravchenko. When asked if she had a girlfriend, the tennis player replied, “Yes.”
Kasatkina’s confession came on the same day that a bill was presented to the State Duma of the Russian Federation to ban “propaganda of non-traditional relationships” in film, social media and the media.
