“As of today, I am officially the president of the SDR with a full mandate. This is the mandate I asked my colleagues for unity, stability and coherence. For efficiency, I’ll deliver that as well. To the fear of PNL and PSD, USR will provide real opposition. Why do we do this? Because PNL and PSD tore Romania in two. On the one hand, there are millions of people trying to build a future for their children, and their suffering is visible. Inflation is huge. On the other hand – Romania of clientelism. These are those who give themselves special pensions, ridiculous salaries from public money, those who employ their relatives on public wages. These two parties are driving Romania to bankruptcy. Products have become more expensive by 20%, inflation has risen to 15%, and interest rates are the highest in the last 15 years. Now they are preparing to close part of this hole by reaching into the Romanians’ pockets. USR’s mission is to try to stop them,” Ketalin Drula said at a press conference following the approval of the results of the internal elections.

He also launched a new attack on Transport Minister Sorin Grindeana.

“I automatically think of Sorin Grindeana. He is the main representative of a disaster government, a man who does not care about infrastructure, and it hurts me that he is not doing anything for Romania. He managed to terminate several unfinished contracts,” Drula added.

The Congress of the EDRP on Saturday approved the results of the voting for the position of party president as the final stage of the internal elections held in early July at an online meeting. In the first round of internal elections for the post of USR president, Katalin Drula won with 71.3% of the vote.
