Stoloyan does not believe that the PNL will support Laura Kodruts Kovesi in the presidential elections, because the liberals do not want someone from outside the political formation. In addition, Kovesi declared his interest in the candidacy.

Teodor Stoloyan was asked on Prima TV’s Insider political show on Sunday whether Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke will be the Liberals’ candidate in the presidential election.

“It’s hard for me, I don’t know what to tell you. Of course, he is the president of the party, he is now the most trusted person in the party. Therefore, as a rule, if the party decides to have a candidate from among the members of the National Liberal Party, another candidate with the competitiveness of Mr. Chuke, we do not have him,” Stoloyan said.

When asked whether Nikolay Chuke will remain at the head of the NLP until the presidential elections, since next year he will no longer be the prime minister and his political power will decrease, Stoloyan answered:

“That is correct, but I think Mr. Chuke will become the Senate President when he is no longer the Prime Minister. Do not forget that the campaign starts somewhere from October-November next year, it is already a local campaign, so there is no time to change presidents and change structures and so on. The party should already be in the trenches for the campaign.”

What Stoloyan says about Joana

Stoloyan was also asked if he sees NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Joane as a candidate in the presidential elections.

“In my opinion, Mircea Joane now has a lot of assets in the sense of carrying out this position, a lot of contacts, a lot of relationships. The problem with him, as you know, is related to his behavior. I mean, during the election campaign, you face different thugs. So this is a big question mark in front of Mr. Joane, that is, his relationship, to what extent he is ready to slide into certain relationships that have nothing to do with a politician,” Stoloyan explained.

He was also asked who the PSD presidential candidate would choose between Mircea Joane and Marcel Čolaku.

“I think on the third. Mr. Cholaku is sensible enough not to jump into something where he knows he may not have a chance,” said the former PNL president.

Kovesi can change the presidential political game

Stoloyan sees in Laura Kodruka Kovesha the ability to change the political game in the presidential elections

“Why not? Despite the fact that many people criticize it, I still want to tell you and take this opportunity to tell you very clearly that in Romania there are two people who created two state systems that were effective at a certain point Of course, various analyzes may intervene later.

One is Raed Arafat, who created the SMURD system and is being attacked from all sides by all kinds of people who created nothing. Raed Arafat created a system for all to see. When you get into a traffic accident, he is there to save your life. I know where Raed Arafat started, he started in Tirgu Mures, there he created the first unit of SMURD.

The second is Mrs. Laura Kodruca Kovesi. In her time, DNA was active. Of course, as in any system, some poisonous mushrooms appeared, like in Ploiesti, I don’t know where, but basically the system worked,” Stoloyan said.

Stoloyan was also asked whether PNL could support Laura Kodruts Kovesi in the presidential elections.

“I don’t think the PNL is ready to support a person who is not coming from the PNL now. PNL has already learned some lessons from its course,” Teodor Stoloyan also stated.

Laura Kodruia Kovesi said that she does not want to run for the post of president.
