
For the last day, 6,469 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, which is 844 less than the previous day. The most new cases were registered in Bucharest – 972 – but the infection rate is decreasing – 9.28 per thousand.
1,273 new cases in 24 hours were from reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after initial infection.
In contrast to new confirmed cases, 303 people were confirmed positive after retesting patients who had already tested positive.
The number of hospitalizations is also decreasing
In specialized medical facilities, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 3,912, which is 77 less than the previous day.
297 people were hospitalized in the intensive care unit, which is 5 less than the previous day. Of the 297 patients admitted to the HTI, 257 are unvaccinated.
Out of the total number of hospitalized, 514 were minors, 511 in wards, which is 35 less than the previous day, and 3 in intensive care, 1 less than the previous day.
29 deaths in the last day
From the beginning of the pandemic to today, 66,291 people with a diagnosed SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.
In the period from 10.08.2022 (10:00) to 11.08.2022 (10:00), according to the National Institute of Health and Welfare, 29 deaths were recorded (16 men and 13 women), of which 2 deaths occurred before the control interval.
Of the 29 deceased, 1 was registered in the age category of 40-49 years, 4 – in the age category of 60-69 years, 7 – in the age category of 70-79 years, and 17 – in the category of over 80 years.
All the deceased had concomitant diseases, 8 were vaccinated.
How many Romanians were checked?
Over the last day, 4,210 RT-PCR tests were performed (2,714 based on case definition and medical protocol and 1,496 on request) and 19,763 express antigen tests.
To date, 13,360,920 RT-PCR tests and 10,956,097 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
