
Over the last day, 3,518 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were registered, which is 2,923 less than the previous day, the Ministry of Health (MoH) reported on Sunday. Eight deaths were recorded among patients with COVID, 6 of them with concomitant diseases and three of them vaccinated against COVID.
According to the ministry, the 613 new cases registered in the last 24 hours are re-infected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first transmission of the disease.
The most new cases of COVID in Bucharest – 824 and in the counties of Constanta – 296, Prahova – 185, Argesh – 135, Ilfov – 131.
The rate of infection in 14 days at the national level is 4.11 cases per thousand inhabitants. The highest incidence is in Bucharest – 9.96, Ilfov – 7.25, Sibiu – 7.17 Timis – 6.51.
The ministry also notes that 3,994 people with COVID have been hospitalized in specialized medical facilities, which is 184 less than the previous day.

264 patients are being treated at the ACI, five more than the previous day, of which 229 are unvaccinated against COVID.
Of the total number of those hospitalized, 554 are minors, 552 are hospitalized in the department, which is 23 more than the previous day, and two in the emergency department, one less than the previous day.
Over the last day, eight deaths among patients with COVID (eight men) were registered.
Among the eight deaths, one was registered in the age category of 60-69 years, four – in the age category of 70-79 years, and three – in the age category of over 80 years.
According to the Ministry of Health, among the deceased patients, six had concomitant diseases and three were vaccinated against COVID.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 66,179 people diagnosed with COVID-19 have died in Romania.
Over the last day, 2,786 RT-PCR tests were conducted (1,296 according to the diagnosis and medical protocol and 1,490 according to the request) and 9,833 express antigen tests.
To date, 13,343,756 RT-PCR tests and 10,876,253 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
In total, 3,115,992 cases of infection with the new coronavirus have been registered in Romania since the beginning of the pandemic. In contrast to newly confirmed cases, 195 people tested positive again after retesting patients who had already tested positive.
