
In the last day, 8,617 cases of COVID-19 were registered in Romania, which is 489 less than the previous day. The most cases were registered in Bucharest – 1,655 new diseases, the infection rate was 9.76 ppm.
1,624 of the new cases in 24 hours were re-infected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the initial infection.
In contrast to new confirmed cases, 352 people were confirmed positive after retesting patients who had already tested positive.
Over 4,000 hospitalized patients with COVID-19
In specialized medical facilities, the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 4,007, which is 12 more than the previous day.
283 people were hospitalized in the intensive care unit, one less than the previous day. Of the 283 patients admitted to intensive care, 241 are unvaccinated.
Out of the total number of hospitalized 539 minors, 534 were hospitalized in wards, which is 13 fewer than the previous day, and 5 in intensive care, as in the previous day.
27 deaths in the last day
From the beginning of the pandemic to today, 66,117 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.
In the period from 03.08.2022 (10:00) to 04.08.2022 (10:00), according to INSP data, 27 deaths were recorded (11 men and 16 women), one fatal case was registered before the control interval.
Of the 27 deceased, 3 were registered in the age category of 50-59 years, 3 in the age category of 60-69 years, 8 in the age category of 70-79 years, and 13 in the age category over 80 years.
25 deceased had concomitant diseases, 11 were vaccinated.
How many Romanians were checked?
Over the last day, 5,085 RT-PCR tests were performed (3,277 based on case definition and medical protocol and 1,808 on request) and 22,328 rapid antigen tests.
From the beginning of the pandemic to this date, 13,332,446 RT-PCR tests and 10,828,897 rapid antigen tests have been processed at the national level.
