
Marian Yancu (57 years old) spent eight years in prison for non-payment of taxes, until the summer of 2022.
Months after his release, the former Poli Timișoara boss spoke about his time behind bars and explained why he refused to work in prison, even though doing so would have reduced his sentence.
Marian Jancu said she found actions such as cleaning or moving objects humiliating.
“You can humiliate yourself if you want to go after profits. You can humble yourself. To work, to win days in order to return home sooner, means basically self-deprecation. It’s work… Cleaning, sweeping, digging, carrying. These were not for me. Earnings are not given for qualified work. I did not engage in such activities, it was humiliating, it was not at my level…” – said Marian Janku.
