Her daughter and director Alexandra Pelosidetails his mother’s activities in a new documentary “Pelosi in the house“, which will be shown on the American television network HBO.

“All my adult life I have been two steps behind you with this camera, trying to get ahead of you. Mom, do you understand this? You are walking at a fast pace. It’s hard to keep up with you,” says Alexandra off-camera, following Nancy to the US Capitol.

“I’m a workaholic and I’m not doing this for show,” Nancy replies. This statement is confirmed many times over in this refreshing personal account of a life in politics.

The documentary, which premieres Tuesday, briefly chronicles Nancy Pelosi’s upbringing in a Catholic family of Baltimore politicians, as well as three decades of her stay in Congress including the landmark moment in 2007 when she became the first female Speaker of the House of Representatives.

But most of the film focuses on the most difficult and dangerous period of Pelosi’s career: the Trump presidency. But beyond that, the documentary covers a range of threats and violence against politicians and government officials, from the aftermath of the Affordable Care Act in 2010 to the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Pelosi in the House is not a political play, an autobiography, or an official account of life in the US House of Representatives. It is an ode to her mother’s daughter at a particularly dangerous time when Nancy became a target.

The documentary contains interviews and material that only a daughter could get her hands on. In some shots, Pelosi is at home in his pajamas, talking on the phone with Mike Pence and doing laundry. At the office, he is embarrassed and amused by the Trump memes circulating on the internet. In another scene, she screams in front of the audience at those who accuse her of breaking an oath.
