More than 20 years after the filming of the first film”Lord of the Rings“, Elijah Wood this time back to New Zealand to star in the comedy adventure film ‘Books“.
The story follows 12-year-old Mildred, whose life takes a new turn when her mother is hospitalized and estranged from her family, and her American wizard father Stron Weiss (Wood) is sent to look after his wife. In an effort to entertain his daughter, Strawn organizes a hike in the New Zealand wilderness. This journey serves as a test of the bond between father and daughter, as well as a search for the monster known as the Canterbury Panther.
Given that Mildred is a bookworm and has never been out of town, and Stron lives more in Las Vegas than in the Southern Alps, chances of failure are high.
The film’s title is a reference to the screenplay by David Mamet, which was later made into the film Fringe, starring Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin.
Bookworm is currently in pre-production and filming will begin in New Zealand in March and April 2023.
