Legendary director John Waters returns to the director’s chair for the first time in an 18-year absence for the 2022 film adaptation of her novel.”Liarmuth: Feeling – Bad Romance“.
Waters is a pioneering independent filmmaker whose film reputation has skyrocketed with masterpieces such as “pink flamingos“since 1972 and”Polyester“since 1981 – will write the script and stage the project. This will be his first film since the release of ‘Dirty shame“and in 2004
“Liarmouth” is the craziest thing I’ve written in a while. I am very excited to be back in the film industry,” said the 76-year-old director. “I hope to bring joy to moviegoers around the world.”
The novel’s story follows three generations of women in the same family: Adora, who runs an unlicensed veterinary clinic on Manhattan’s Upper East Side that specializes in plastic surgery for animals, Adora’s daughter Marsh, a pathological thief and misanthrope, and Marsha’s daughter, Poppy, who owns trampoline park on the outskirts of Baltimore. They all conspired to kill each other.
Learmouth is, in a sense, Waters’ first novel. In the 1980s and 1990s, his career took a turn from cult movie to mainstream avatar—most notably with the 1988 release of Hairspray, which moved to Broadway in 2002 and won a Tony Award. In 2007, it was brought to the big screen.
But after A Dirty Shame, Waters moved away from film, writing a series of non-fiction books, touring, and making small appearances in television and film projects.
