Her former “Grease” co-star John Travolta, Hollywood, musicians and Australian leaders are mourning Olivia Newton-John, who died on Monday at her farm in southern California at the age of 73, News.ro reports.

Newton-John, who had spoken publicly about her breast cancer since her first diagnosis in 1992, died surrounded by family and friends, according to a statement posted on her Facebook page by her husband, John Easterling.

Soon after the announcement of her family, tributes from her former colleagues and her fans began to pour in. Newton-John has sold more than 100 million records and scored nearly 40 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 during his nearly fifty-year musical career.

Her “Grease” co-star John Travolta posted on Instagram:

“My dear Olivia, you have made all of our lives so much better. Your influence was incredible. I love you so much. See you later and we will be together again. I am yours from the moment we met and forever! Your Danny, your John!”.

“Grease” director Randall Claeser told The Hollywood Reporter, “I’m heartbroken. She was unique in her own way and so kind. In over four decades of friendship, she radiated nothing but love to everyone she met. Olivia was exactly what you imagined her to be. I will miss her forever.”

A wave of tributes to Olivia Newton-John

Australian singer Kylie Minogue tweeted a photo of herself and Newton-John at a concert to mark the Kingdom’s bicentenary in 1988.

“From the age of 10, I loved and appreciated Olivia Newton John. And always will,” she wrote. “She has been and always will be an inspiration to me in many, many ways. My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones. x ONJ4EVER.”

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called her a “star” and a “bright and cheerful light in our lives”.

Singer Dionne Warwick wrote on Twitter:

“Another angelic voice has been added to the Heavenly Choir. Olivia was not only a dear friend, but one of the best people I’ve ever had the pleasure of recording and performing with. I will definitely miss her. Now she rests in the arms of the Heavenly Father.”

Director James Gunn said Newton-John was his “first real crush” and revealed he once lived in her former home in Malibu.

Actor George Takei tweeted:

“We have lost a great artist in Olivia Newton-John, who passed too soon at the age of 73. I believe he is now in the greater Xanadus beyond. Know that we are forever hopelessly devoted to you, Olivia. Rest in song and joy.”
