
British-born Australian actress and singer Olivia Newton-John died on Monday at the age of 73, Reuters reported in a message posted on her Instagram account.
“Olivia Newton-John (age 73) passed away peacefully this morning at her farm in Southern California, surrounded by family and friends,” the statement said.
The message is signed by the actress’ husband, John Easterling, who also asks “everyone to respect the family’s privacy at this very difficult time.”

This was the third time that the beloved actress from “Grease” fought with breast cancer. This time, she confirmed that the disease had reached stage 4 metastasis and that the cancer cells had spread to other parts of the body.

Then, in August 2019, Olivia admitted that there was no possibility of recovery and that she did not want to ask doctors how long she had left to live. “When you’re told you have terminal cancer, you may only have six months to live. That’s what the statistics say, but I don’t want to know. It’s devastating,” she admitted.
However, the actress remained positive, saying that she is “far” from death, despite rumors circulating that she was on her deathbed. “Reading that you’re going to die, or that you’re going to die, is very surprising,” Olivia Newton-John said of the news. “The rumors of my death have been exaggerated… I’m fine,” she said at the time.
Newton-John was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, being a supporter of the disease and animal rights campaigns. Actually, the artist founded the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Center in Melbourne, Australia.
The second time she was diagnosed with cancer, also of the breast, but which had spread to her shoulder, in 2013.
After her third diagnosis, the US-based actress said she also turned to hemp oil to treat her pain, adding that she hopes the remedy will be available in her country in the future.
