
A large part of the global fashion industry has quickly adapted to consumer trends and fast-paced life. In the era of online commerce, it is impossible not to find something to wear or put on, which can be ordered and delivered to your home in the shortest possible time, on specialized sites.
This whole business model, which involves a huge volume of cheap clothes thrown onto the market in a very short period of time, is known as fast fashion and appeared two decades ago.
But now we have reached the next level: too fast fashion. The direction is dictated especially by Chinese companies such as Temu and Shein, known as the third generation in the industry, as stated in the Business of Fashion (BoF) report, made in partnership with McKinsey.
How did we get to the point where we change clothes as fast as we change a T-shirt, how sustainable is this business based on huge amounts of very cheap clothes and accessories, and why is there serious concern about their impact on the environment?
