This year, in the Cesianu-Rakovice Palace, we are celebrating the Little Union (January 24 – the Union of Romanian Principalities) with an exhibition called “Jewelry of the Queen”, which will last for several days. From January 23 to 28, we are bringing to the Artmark galleries extremely rare works that belonged to the royal family and are worth hundreds of thousands of euros.

The star of the evening was a gold and enamel Fabergé brooch with diamonds, decorated with Queen Mary’s monogram. The Queen is believed to have given the brooch when she was Crown Princess and the monogram is believed to have been designed by her around the same time. From 1900 until 2019, when it was put up for international auction, the jewel had the same owner from a Danish family.

Of particular note is the 18k gold pocket watch, made by Longines and sold in Bucharest by Roller Brothers, set with brilliant-cut diamonds and rubies, and with Queen Mary’s monogram, an extremely rare piece that comes from a private collection and has never been previously not sold at auction. We also note the pen for writing – made of pure gold, two colors, pink and yellow (on which the swastika of Queen Mary is applied, made of platinum and paved with diamonds). The feather weighs 11.54 grams, is 19.5 cm long and is housed in a vintage box from the Royal Household supplier, Stopwatch.

Visitors can also admire a vintage jeweled photo frame with a holographic signature of Queen Mary. Among the exhibits, it is worth noting a large gold pendant, the Cross of Queen Mary, decorated with diamonds and rubies (circa 1920). All these exhibits and many others cost several hundred thousand euros.
