Romania exported nearly 1,000 MW of electricity to the Republic of Moldova on Monday morning, but most of that energy went to Ukraine, according to data analyzed by HotNews.ro. This is in conditions where the wind turbines installed in our country produce a huge amount of electricity.
Electricity production in Romania this morning is over 9,000 MW, with most of it coming from wind turbines around 10:00.
They provide more than 2460 MW, in conditions when the entire eastern part of our country is under a yellow code of strong wind, snow and blizzard.
In total, 3,000 MW of wind turbines have been installed in Romania.
The second source of energy production is hydroelectric power plants, which produced 2,415 MW during this time. Thus, more than half of the production in the country is represented by renewable sources.
Romania exports electricity to Ukraine
The country’s consumption is about 8,200 MW, and the total production exceeds 9,100 MW, the difference goes to exports.
According to Transelectrica, the Republic of Moldova accounts for almost 1,000 MW.
For its part, the Republic of Moldova provides almost all of its consumption (821 MW per analyzed hour) due to its own production (721 MW) and exports more than 800 MW to Ukraine.
Therefore, almost the entire amount of energy exported from Romania goes to Ukraine.
