From Monday, there will be no more direct trains between Cluj and Oradea for at least two years, as extensive modernization and electrification work will be carried out. On some routes, “substitute buses” will be introduced, which will be provided by railway passenger transport operators and will run according to their established schedule. There will be six buses a day between Cluj and Oradea.
What CFR SA says
The national railway company CFR SA informs that in the period from 08.01.2024 to 08.01.2026 the railway traffic will be closed on the link Aguirres – Poeni for the implementation of “Electrification and restoration of the railway line Cluj-Napoca – Oradea – Bishopric of Bihor” – Lot 2 Aguirres – Poeni
- Trains will disappear between Cluj and Oradea for several years – Will the idea of ”railway buses” succeed or will people remain at the mercy of the bus mafia?
We draw your attention to the fact that during the closure of the railway connection on the Aguirres-Pojeni connection for electrification and rehabilitation works, passenger trains will be able to run on the routes Cluj-Napoca – Aguirres and back, as well as Pojeni – Oradea – the border and back. connections, according to the currently valid train schedule.
In order to ensure the continuity of public passenger transport services in the area where the project of rehabilitation and electrification of the railway line involves the complete closure of the line, CNCF CFR SA provides the necessary support to the Railway Reform Office, which, based on the new legislative provisions adopted by the Government of Romania through emergency resolution no. 131/2023, organizes, together with operators of railway passenger transport (RTP), intercity bus services to replace passenger trains for the period of works on the railway infrastructure.
City buses to replace passenger trains will be provided by operators of railway passenger transport (RTP) and will run according to the timetable established by them for the following distances:
a) Aguirres – Hudin – 8 buses, Hudin – Aguirres – 7 buses, which ensure the continuity of train traffic on the distance Cluj-Napoca – Aguirres and back, with a transfer of passengers at the Aguirres station;
b) Aguirres – Stana – 2 buses (one bus in each direction), which ensure the continuity of train traffic on the distance Cluj-Napoca – Aguirres and back, with a transfer of passengers at the Aguirres station;
c) Cluj-Napoca – Huedyn and back – 2 buses (one bus each way);
d) Cluj-Napoca – Oradea and back – 12 buses (6 buses each way).
Please note that replacement buses will have the same identification number as the train number if continuity of service is ensured, and a different number in other cases.
