TrenuleČ›’s decree, published on Friday evening in the Official Gazette, also contains changes to excise taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel, or rather increases.
Fiscal consultant Adrian Benza says that “new procedures are being introduced to update excise duties on petrol and diesel, in the sense that excise duties on these products will increase on January 1, 2024 by 50% of the increase in consumer prices and by 50% on July 1, 2024 from rising consumer prices.”
However, it should be remembered that by Law No. 296/2023 (on new taxes and raising others no), there is a different procedure that applies from January 1, 2024, in the sense that the amount of excise duties is already regulated by this law, which makes changes to Appendix 1 to the Tax Code, and this law provides for the non-renewal of the excise duty on the set date of April 1.
In fact, Benza says, this order increases excise taxes from January 1, 2024.
Also, from the point of view of excise duties, new labeling procedures for energy products are being introduced, but the topic should be developed from a technical point of view.
