
The average net salary in October was 4,692 lei, which is 99 lei (+2.2%) more compared to September 2023, statistics show. In the budgetary sphere, the growth of the average net salary compared to the previous month occurred in education (+2.9%), respectively, in public administration (+1.9%). In the health and social care sector, average net wages fell slightly from the previous month (-1.7%), according to data released Wednesday by the INS
The highest salaries were recorded in the field of information technology services (including IT services) (11,127 lei), and the lowest in hotels and restaurants (2,591 lei).
October 2023 compared to October 2022
Compared to October of last year, the average net salary increased by 17.1%, data from the INS also show.
The real wage index in October 2023 to October 2022 was 108.4%.
The most significant wage increases were:
• by 10.3% in the production of computers and electronic-optical products;
• from 6.0% to 7.5% in other industrial activities, not included in other types, production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning, clothing production;
• from 3.5% to 5.0% in publishing activities, storage and auxiliary activities in transport, forestry and logging (including fishing and aquaculture), metal structures and metal products, postal and courier activities, furniture production, tobacco production, tanning and leather processing (including tourist goods and leather goods, harness and shoe manufacturing; fur preparation and dyeing), provision of administrative and support services, land and pipeline transport, food industry, wholesale and retail trade (including car and motorcycle repair), auxiliary activity of financial intermediation, insurance activity and pension funds, transactions with real estate.
The decrease in the average net salary compared to September 2023 is due to the provision of one-time bonuses, in-kind and monetary assistance, amounts from net profit and other funds (including securities) in previous months. Also, the decrease in the average net salary was caused by production disruptions or lower revenues (depending on the contracts/projects), as well as the hiring of personnel from certain types of economic activity with wages lower than the average.
The most significant decrease in average net salary at the CAEN Rev.2 level was recorded as follows:
• by 15.1% in the production of crude oil and natural gas, respectively by 12.1% in the production of coke chemical products and crude oil processing products;
• from 2.0% to 5.5% in the metallurgical industry, activities in the production of cinematographic, video and television programs, activities in audio recordings and music editing (including activities in television and radio broadcasting and transmission of programs), activities in the provision of services in mineral extraction , printing and reproduction on recording media, extraction of upper and lower coal.
