More than a million Romanian tourists and about 120,000 foreign tourists stayed on Airbnb in the first 10 months of this year, which is about 10% of all tourists, according to data sent by Statistics at a request from HotNews.ro

Below is the number of overnight stays by Romanian and foreign tourists on Airbnb.

Statistics distinguish tourist arrivals from overnight stays. The arrival of a tourist is registered when the person is entered in the register of the hotel/apartments where he resides.

An overnight stay is a 24-hour interval starting from the hotel time for which a person is registered in the residence book.

In the case of Airbnb accommodation, the average length of stay was 2.14 days for Romanian tourists (with a maximum of 2.5 days in August) and 2.16 days for foreigners who visited our country.

Over 11 million tourists visited the country in the first 10 months, of which 15% were foreigners.

For the period from 01.01 to 31.10.2023, 11,794.1 thousand people arrived, which is 11.3% more than for the period from 01.01 to 31.10.2022, the INS reports.

Out of the total number of arrivals in the period 01.01.-31.10.2023, arrivals of Romanian tourists in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions made up 84.6%, and arrivals of foreign tourists made up 15.4%.

The number of overnight stays registered in tourist reception structures (including apartments and rooms per day) for 01.01.-31.10.2023 amounted to 25,546.6 thousand, which is 10.6% more compared to 01.01.-31.10.2022.

Out of the total number of overnight stays in the period 01.01.-31.10.2023, the overnight stays of Romanian tourists in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions made up 84.9%, and the overnight stays of foreign tourists made up 15.1%.

By county, the highest values ​​were recorded in: Constanta (1.5 million), Bucharest (1.5 million people) and Brasov (1.2 million people).

By country, the largest number of foreign tourists came from: Germany (almost 200,000 people), Italy (151,000 people) and Israel (144,000 people).

Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at border points, amounted to 1.66 million people, an increase of 12.7% compared to the period 01.01.-31.10.2022.
