A maximum of 3,000 employees of territorial retirement homes will receive a salary increase from 500 to 1,500 or 2,000 lei from January 1, 2024, according to a draft emergency order that will be finalized in the coming days at the Ministry of Labor, representatives of the National Block of Trade Unions (BNS) said on Wednesday. The strike in the territory will be suspended.
- “We identified a short-term solution that would lead to a salary adjustment to eliminate the disparity in salary between the center and the territory. At the first stage, this will be formalized through a regulatory act, which will be finalized in the coming days. We will be at the Ministry of Labor on Monday at 11:00 a.m.
- Given that from Monday we will be working on the text of the GEO project, which provides for the solution requested by the retirement homes in the territory, colleagues intend to suspend this protest until the commitments made tonight, which I am convinced, will be implemented with respect, they will become a reality.”, This was stated by the head of the National Bank of Romania, Dumitru Kostin, at the end of the government meeting on Wednesday.
The law will include the restructuring of the Ministry of Labor and these wage adjustments and will be passed by the end of this year.
What are the salaries of nursing home workers in the territory and what raises are promised
Representatives of retirement homes in the territory say that from January 1, 2024, there will be an increase from 500 lei to a maximum of 1,500 lei.
- “For a senior inspector with 25 years of experience, starting January 1, 2024, the salary will be increased by 1,500 lei net. Now such an inspector has 4,800 lei.” said Paul Ionuc Marinescu, senior inspector for international pensions of the Argesh Pension House.
The increase is targeted at a maximum of 3,000 employees.
- “There will not be a big impact on the budget that will cause problems, given that the maximum increase will be 1,500 or 2,000 lei. We have a maximum of 3,000 employees in territorial boarding houses.
- Probably the minimum increase will be 500, 600 or 700 lei. In territorial pension houses, a person with a higher education and 2 years of experience has a salary of 3,000 lei, almost the minimum salary in the economy.” said Christina Stefan, legal counsel for the Arges County Retirement Home.
Representatives of the National Trade Union Bloc (BNS) discussed on Wednesday with the Minister of Labor Simona Bukura Opreska the claims of employees of Pension Houses, where there is a salary difference of up to 1,500 lei between employees performing the same job.
The unions also drew attention to the need for investment in the pension system, as “the calculation is still being done by hand in 2023,” according to News.ro.
