The owner of SpaceX and Tesla spoke during a conversation with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the sidelines of the first Global Artificial Intelligence Summit in Bletchley Park, UK.
Later in London, during a personal meeting with Sunak, he expressed the opinion that the time will come when “the jobs will no longer be needed.”
Instead, the work will only be for those who want it for “personal enjoyment”, he added.
“Artificial intelligence was like a ‘magic genie’ that fulfills your every wish,” continued Elon Musk, reminding us that such fairy tales rarely end well.
“One of the challenges of the future is how to find meaning in life,” he said.
In his opinion, “we should be very worried” about humanoid robots that “can follow you anywhere.”
What if one day it gets a software update and it stops being so friendly?” Musk asked.
Thus, the tech billionaire emphasized the importance of having a physical switch.
The two-day meeting at Bletchley ended on Thursday with Western governments and the companies involved agreeing a new regime for testing safety in what is being called the “advanced” next generation of artificial intelligence.
