The minimum consumer basket for a decent life has been updated by the Friedrich Ebert Romanian Foundation and Syndex Romania. The increase compared to last year is about 15%, life is becoming more expensive due to high inflation.
Thus, the value of the minimum consumer basket for a decent life in 2023 for:
- a family of two adults and two children is 9,978 lei per month.
- a family of two adults and one child is 8,205 lei per month
- a family of two adults without children is 6,162 lei per month
- one adult is 3,807 lei per month.
How money is divided for food, clothing, hygiene, etc
According to the Fund’s press release, the value of the basket was recalculated based on the price indices published by the National Institute of Statistics for September 2023, compared to September 2022.
The increase in the total value of the consumer basket is determined by a significant increase in expenses for all sections, except for housing expenses (water, electricity, gas, and thermal energy).
