The Romanian energy system is approaching the maximum number of consumers that can be connected to the grid. Recently, this phenomenon has gained momentum, with the installed capacity of consumers exceeding 1,000 MW, and problems have already appeared in the system, says Bende Sandor, president of the Industry and Services Commission in the Chamber of Deputies.
“Consumer services can be provided as long as they do not affect the networks. ANRE, when notified, will be able to stop these investments, and we must tell the citizens, people must know: when consumers reach more than 8% of the total installed capacity of Romania of 18,000 MW, it can reduce or charge additional funds for these investments” – said Bende at the conference “We invest and act responsibly in energy” organized by InvesTenergy.
According to him, the limitation will mean the installed capacity of prosumers of 1400-1600 MW.
“We are rapidly approaching this figure, we passed one thousand MW of installed capacity, and problems began to appear in the distribution networks. Maybe someone will commission a study to see if it holds up. At the same time, we also need green energy production and a price that Romanians and companies in Romania can pay and remain competitive. But we also need security in the security of supply, and we cannot play here,” added the deputy.

The new consumer law is being debated in the Senate today
On the other hand, a new law is being prepared in the parliament, according to which prosumers will receive more benefits.
They will be able to pay for the energy released into the network every month, instead of after two years, as now.
At the same time, the new law provides that consumers can donate excess energy to other consumers or offset their gas bill if they have the same electricity and gas supplier.
The legislative amendment will be discussed today in the energy committee of the Senate, and will be voted on tomorrow at the plenary session of the Senate.
