In the first 8 months of this year, Romania exported goods worth more than 62 billion euros and imported products worth more than 80 billion, the INS reported on Tuesday. Practically, we spent almost 20 billion more than our blanket consumption.
Imports of food, drink and tobacco increased by more than 13% (we still import about a billion euros of food and drink a month), but instead oil and fat imports fell by more than 30%, the statistics show.
In terms of exports, our luck is based on the supply of cars and transport equipment (about 45% of total exports), according to statistics.
In the period 1.I-31.VIII 2023, exports increased by 3.1%, and imports decreased by 2.3%, compared to the period 1.I-31.VIII 2022.
The trade balance deficit amounted to 18.22 billion euros, which is 3,782.4 million euros (-17.2%) less than was recorded in the period 1.I-31.VIII 2022.
