
The price of electricity on the exchange in September was three times lower than in the same month last year, according to the data of the exchange operator OPCOM. However, there was a small increase compared to August.
Thus, in September on the spot market (Next Day Market), energy cost an average of 512 lei/MWh, compared to 1854 lei/MWh in the same month last year.
In the first half of this year, prices began to fall after the growth of previous years.
But the upward trend has returned since June this year, during the summer the price of energy increased from 422 lei/MWh in June, to 478 lei in July and to 502 lei in August.
The volume of spot energy trading in September 2023 was 1.158 million MWh, which is 5% less than in August 2023 and 36% less than in September 2022.
Prices on the spot market are indicative, as most of the energy volume on the market is traded here (29% in September 2023).
